How long did it take God...?
Solon, you can read for yourself the account at Gen. 2: 18-23 and reason for yourself.
But, life arose on its own? Starting w/simple forms that gradually, over millions of yrs., became more and more complex--however, the term "simple" can be misleading because all living things--even microscopic single-celled organisms, are incredibly complex.
Of creation, only humans were made in the image of God so humans are capable of reflecting God's creative drive. Don't humans, at times, produce impressive works of music, art, and technology? Then, it should surprise humans that God is better at creating than we are. So, where is the difficulty in creating woman from a rib?
I suppose God could have used other means, but this manner of making woman had beautiful significance. He wanted man and woman to marry, as your parents did, to form a close bond, as if they were "one flesh." Powerful evidence of a wise and loving Creator.
Further, modern geneticists have acknowledged that all humans likely descended from only one male and one female. Really, then, is the Genesis account far-fetched?
