I recently bot a 1 tb external HD for backup purposes only. It came with a backup program which I've already learned to hate. From what I remember reading here, the best way for me to accomplish what I want is to "image" rather than "backup".

Is there a place here on this board where I can simplify the task of reading up on all my imaging options? I see in the header a mention of "the best of CL" board, but I can't find that, or don't know where to look. Help appreciated.... thanks!

Also, should I format this external drive just to rid it of all the garbage that came on it, plus the futile attempts I've made at backups? Any/all suggestions appreciated....
