Ken, [ps added] one of the imaging programs I used gave a warning that all files on the target drive would be lost if I proceeded. I take that to mean the program cleans up before backing up.

PS: I think that warning only happened when making a clone. No warning when making an image file. Just make sure there is enough space for the file
