APM's 10K is a joke. The financials are old news; I had already calculated the cash flow from their press release long time ago. For them to release their 10K at this juncture and to barely mention their difficult forward financial situation, is inviting lawsuit.

I'm still looking for a technical rebound in January before I pile it on. Options look interesting, but high implied volatility makes it a tricky bet. Mebbe in-the-money puts...

RDRT's 10K is more interesting...
"Though Read-Rite SMI will continue to seek qualification on Quantum/MKE's 2.5GB per 3.5-inch disk programs due for production in the third quarter of fiscal 1998, there can be no assurance that Read-Rite SMI will be successful in regaining market share at Quantum/MKE."

RDRT's 3rd quarter is June. I have a feeling QNTM doesn't want RDRT as a partner because of RDRT's flirting heart. If their Japanese suppliers are just as good (read: cheap), why strengthen RDRT's hand?

If I was QNTM's banker, I'd recommend spinning off DLT and buying WDC.
If I was RDRT's banker, I'd recommend a takeover of both WDC and Maxtor, as I have both by the balls.
If I was SEG's banker, I would get all their manufacturing off their books, similar to Coke/Coca-cola Enterprises.

NEW SUBJECT: Asia Forum

T Bowl, Lawrence, Larry and all others on the DD thread,

as I get the feeling that there is considerable interest at present about economic, political and social developments in Asian countries, I have created the Asia Forum, a place where we can exchange news, views and stories. The link is

Message 3018408

It would be nice if you and all interested SI followers checked in occasionally to see whether there are new posts, information or questions. Right now, of course there is pretty little still.

I hope that the forum develops into a valuable source for Asian affairs. I would also invite you all to tell your SI penpals about the Asia forum, so that as many people as possible get toghether there.

Thanks a lot,
Thomas
