Ran into the Rainbow People in New Orleans after Katrina. They were running the food kitchen for the relief workers. IIRC, they showed up in town one year for a music festival. Ranchers had a lot of problems, since "nobody owns the earth, man". I don't think they are Sioux wannabees in particular, as opposed to Native Americans in general; a tribe unto themselves. A itinerant peaceful tribe able to get along with everybody, so that they would have conquered the hearts of the warrior Sioux with love, and all the arrows would have turned to daisies.
