Just signed on with a finance guy at M.Lynch, because I'm sick of doing this myself. For what it's worth, they're still recommending Compaq, and in the lit my guy gave me (written by him, I assume, and informed by ML), it says "The sub 1000 computer does not wreck(sic) havoc with higher priced lines. Instead, we have two markets - full service, fully equipped, and the simpler computer....Contrary to rumor, the average selling price of a computer has actually risen, not fallen...Asia is overblown. Target still 100."

That lit was written on the day we hit 54 - yesterday? Day before?

Cisco is the world's leading provider of Internetworking and Networking hardware products. When Year2k issues are addressed, Consultants are selling a "Total Solution" approach which includes upgrading their networks for internet and Global business (WAN). At each turn their is a CISCO product to be purchased.
