Or just wait for a liberal activist Supreme Court to declare that the 2nd amendment actually refers to a "well-regulated militia" and was never intended to apply to one's right to self-defense. Yes of course - but having addressed that issue once - they will be less likely to do so in my lifetime and of course there is the past precedent that it's an individual right. This is of course understood by the NRA and it's membership and why they continually push back unless people forget history. argument isn't effective It's very effective (and has the force of law) and has been for a couple hundred years - perhaps its time for those seeking change to explain how their latest (rehashed plan) will address whatever issue they are attempting to resolve.
