Its the mantra this year for all reporters : Flog 3Com/Ascend as much as you can with anything you can find. As if Cisco and other "perfect" companies have no glitches in their day to day development process. Cisco's Gigabit switch development has been quite a fiasco but I have yet to see one article on their mis-steps with that one. And mind you its a pretty important product for a hot market for 98 and beyond. Cant fling dung on a gold idol, can you ? Pretty soon we may start seeing articles like "3Com cafetaria Chili causes stomach disorders". And "concerned" will dump the stock. ;-) Makes me wonder what will happen to these reporters after the 56k standard modems are out and running smoothly. Maybe they will pick on Cisco's lack of presence in the Gigabit Switch arena or how Ascend products are taking market share in the ISP area from Newbridge.
