This one strikes me as a bunch of crap. The company is still viable and not close to being vulture bait. The writer and the people he quotes are way too premature to be talking breakup.

Can Mike's Great NC Adventure kill the company? The StrongArm chip will go to Intel as part of the Alpha deal. Any support that might have been expected from DEC is gone as INTC is not stupid. It wants low end Pentiums in those NC boxes.

Months back I wrote that the VNC was a write-off waiting to happen. I still think so. Not that the technology is sour, but radically unfamiliar both in the processor and the OS. IMO the price needs to be sub $700 and even then sales won't materialize rapidly. However even a fall-on-your-face failure should not be enough to bankrupt.
