Paul Engel, One other point on Compaq's outstanding growth.
It appears that Compaq's phenomenal growth came mainly at the expense of Packard Bell/NEC, the only top vendor that had negative year/year unit growth,
(-6% US, -2% W/W).
Considering the low-end market for Packard Bell products, this should tell us something about where a big chunk of Compaq's growth came from.
