Glad you found the Rafaela and got it installed. My son runs Peppermint, which is an offshoot of Mint.

Also, I have a fairly new Vista-64 box for old software. Vista isn't as bad as its reputation, but Win7 is better.

You are welcome, I'm glad it is working for you.

I don't use any anti virus program on Mint and most don't, but feel free to use Clam (ClamTK) or any other.
You need to use SUDO (Super User DO) command for any administrative task, so you are pretty safe with Linux. The way Linux is set up, even if you do land on infected web page you should be OK after you restart your computer.

I once had antivirus installed and I got false alarm. Since I didn't know it was false alarm I re-installed Linux Mint that I didn't need to. Since then I don't use any anymore :-)
