It sounded like a war zone here, till 2AM.

Flying and exploding fireworks come from the black markets, not suburban "safe-and-sane" fireworks stands.

Bangs sounded like high caliber gunfire - thought about moving away from the windows a few times.

I can imagine how traumatizing it must be for many vets who served in the wars.

The community sky fireworks are great, but SF and Berkeley's often are money wasted in the fog over the Bay where they shoot them off, and the people who waited for hours feel stupid looking at opaqueness.
