Bill Clinton reshaped the party with moderate “New Democrats,” but the new New Democrats look more like the old.

The problem for Democrats is that the "new New Democrats" who look like the "old" Democrats are threatening to give us a new George McGovern or the equivalent of a Carter-Kennedy split. And that is what gave us Ronald Reagan and eventually the crazed new Republican Party, a merger of Christian evangelism and libertarianism, a deadly combination.
