There's huge benefits to being part of the German Common Market, and not just for Germany. Of course they named the German Common Market the EU because it has better name appeal.

Any European nations which leave the Euro will almost certainly be back one their own house is in order.

Italians and Greeks are simply going to have to begin paying their taxes. Leaving the EU won't let them avoid that reality.
