Wharf, re; the Grateful Dead, I was struck by their musicianship, spirits, and I think the filming was excellent-----not having the point(s) of reference, extended history like you, for me it often felt like I was watching a concert movie that was edited and polished for presentation.......that's how seamless their program, improv'ing came off, imo...hats off to them and the photographers. That was hard with a capital H.

I'm actually surprised that Weir and Lesh, et. al. didn't need to lean on something sooner.........even during my best of days I could not have stayed upright, jamming away, in that languid, packed environment----along with the emotions that these guys obviously had about what they were doing and what it all meant---for all those hours.....hours.......... Performers who move around alot on the stage have it easier in many ways.

Loved Mickey's occasional "don't @#$#@% with me" when the camera panned to him. Not knowing anything about him, I recall thinking I'd not want to piss him off ;-) But here at the end, he told us all to take the goodness with us and be kind.............just terrific. Love guys that can do that......he probably was so done with the cameras being on him yet his tenderness came thru when it mattered....

I also want them to tour again. The drums/space experience, even through that impersonal big screen, has stayed with me today. Can't imagine what it must have been like for you to experience it live---different each time, transporting you to another neighborhood of the mind, the cosmos again and again.........
