When asked about Windows NT most users say two thumbs down infoworld.com

So as to not leave another slip on my part as the last post sitting here, another article from the international ilk conspiracy, press corps division. Not quite on my favorite topic, just NT, the OS for the next millenium.

So here's a little plain gruel on the subject of Windows NT. After soliciting comment a while back, the informal Cringe poll is in. The ratio of replies breaks down to about three-quarters negative (NT sucks), and one-quarter positive (NT rules). There was more negative comment from people familiar with other OSes, and lots of unflattering comparisons with Unix and NetWare. The toughest comments were on general resilience, the directory issue, and performance on high-end applications -- pretty much the usual suspects.

But, as Ballmer would say, ethically, courteously, humorously, let's not get religious about this. NT2k will fix everything up real good.

Cheers, Dan.

This is for Reginald. The basis for my discusssion with you is this: Reggie believes the market cap for MSFT is valid due to its avail.cash/cost of capital, return on capital.Morover, this position was reached due to the market dominance of the windows franchise, which occurred because of consumer choice and the consumer chose..the free market rewarded MSFT and going forward this scenario will replicate, inevitably in NT/UNIX competition.I disagree both to the causes of the available cash flow and cost of capital because I believe it is monopoly ,not free market achieved.
shucks.....my wife caught me on the computer again wow! to be continued.
