Other countries might be, however. Spain, Italy, and some other members of the Euro come to mind.

All for different reasons. And while social services may have contributed to their woes, there is no case where it is the primary cause.


The problem with socialism is that eventually you always run out of other people's money.

Got any examples? You state, and have stated, this with a great deal of certainty. But so far have neglected providing an example of it actually happening.

On a related note, Reagan was fond of this mis-attributed quote.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury.

Yet no one can come up with an example of it ever happening. Even once.

Just because the US has more accesses to said money only postpones the inevitable.

Ok, fine. When do you project the 'inevitable' will happen? Not necessarily the time but the conditions.
