Paul,

Watch out for Halliburton. This Oklohoma based comapny was taken-over
by Brown & Roots sometimes in late 70's. Along with NL Baroid, and Schumberger, they were great performers in 60's and 70's.I used to own Halliburton shares until 78 and if I recall, sold them after an split.

Halliburton is still is a great company, but the Oil drilling seveices comapnies have been facing a great crisis since 1982 and they never really recovered the lost luster! Hall. used to compete with
B.J. Hughes (a div. of Hughes tools! and now owned by Hughes-Baker Corp. in Houston. Another competitor was Dowell that was taken over
by Schlumberger. Since the take-over, Haliiburton has been loosing
ground in West Africa (Angola, Nigeria, and Ivery Coast, Ras Garib
in Egypt, In Yemen and in the Golf State. The market share has gone to
Dowell that is far more aggressive. In 1998 Hall. is expected to loose
another 10% of their market world wide to Dowell-Schliumberger! If the
management does not pull a real rabbit out of the hat, these guys will
end-up where NL industry did, the Limbo!

Kind regards,

Yaacov
