bentway - I have studied all of the major religions of the world and I have found that Christianity is unlike any of them and totally stands alone in many regards. All of the major religions of the world teach that a man must do certain things to earn their god's favor or to attain the promises of their religion. In every case It is through the efforts of the religions followers that the promises are earned. So ultimately progression in the religion is to the glory of the follower of that religion. It would be consistent in a man made religion that man would be glorified for his faithfulness. Christianity is the only religion where the glory for the fulfilment of God's promises to and in his followers is totally God's. Salvation is the granting of all that is God to a mortal man totally by the grace of God through our Lord Jesus Christ. God was in Christ reconciling us to Himself. Because of what He did on Calvary God grants us total, absolute forgiveness and He receives us as His children. He then begins a work in us through His presence within us to help, teach, strengthen, mold and shape us into what He would have us be. Each and every Christian life is unique. Just as all of our children's lives are unique. God works in us and seeks to bless us and we grow as we allow Him to work in us. Our Father is always perfect but none of us are perfect children. Our entire salvation from the moment of its inception till we reach heaven is entirely a work of God and all to His glory. It is all by His grace and mercy and the glory for it is His alone. If there is any good in any Christian it is Christ in him. Man would never have devised such a religion. It is the only religion that is true. There is Christianity and then there is everything else. These are things that unbelievers can never understand. WHY? You have never submitted to the God you know exists. Professing yourselves to be wise you have become fools. So your foolish hearts are darkened lest the light of the glorious gospel might shine unto you that ye might be saved. Until you surrender to God you will never be given the faith to believe on Christ. I did not see Christ die on the cross. I did not see the empty tomb or the risen Christ. I did not see Him ascend into heaven. Yet for all true Christians there is not one shadow of a doubt that it happened. How is that possible? God has revealed it. God has given the faith to believe it. For the Christian it is a sure and certain knowledge. Ephesians 2:7-97 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. No man would have devised such a religion as this. It came from God. bentway, If you would repent and humble yourself before God and ask Him to reveal the truth to you I have no doubt that He will. Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. If you have hardened your heart against God and you no longer have knowledge or awareness of Him and you are truly agnostic, I am sorry.
