.......just think.....if Republicans didn't hold all those seats and control Congress like you've outlined, it could have been a 12 cent increase.

Loco,

We secured a small but important victory at the end of May when Congress passed a highway bill without raising the gas tax. Unfortunately, that two-month highway bill only lasts until July 31, so we’re a near the deadline again and there’s another real risk of a bipartisan deal to raise gas taxes.

Democrat Senator Dick Durbin has openly stated that he’ll oppose another short-term bill – and of course he wants a huge gas tax hike. Republican Senator Bob Corker continues to push his 12 cent gas tax hike, and we told you about Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Renacci, who wants a new Super Committee with the power to raise gas taxes.

Loco, we urge you to click here and encourage your representative to vote NO on ANY federal gas tax hike!

It gets worse. Last week a conservative Republican House member from South Carolina, Tom Rice, floated the idea of a 10 cent gas tax hike.1 He wants it to be paired with an income tax cut. But somehow we suspect that the jump at the pump will come while we’re still waiting for the income tax relief. It’s too clever by half.

We need to keep it simple: NO FEDERAL GAS TAX HIKE!

All of these bills not only raise the gas tax, they also set it to automatically increase every year forever. We can’t let it happen.

There are only a couple of weeks left before the current federal highway bill expires. Let’s keep the pressure on to stop any gas tax hike and keep working to return authority over highways to states and localities.

Once more, please click here tell Congress: NO federal gas tax hike!

Thank you for all that you do,
Phil
President, American Commitment
