60 MILES is just an hours drive. 2011-------Maryland, D.C. and Virginia all shaken by a major tremor. I was on the phone with a lady in Md. We felt it---------the house tingled and shook--------she felt the same and heard the rumble. I would not be sure about your safety there in Washington. 60 miles is no distance at all when the earth shakes and quakes. Suggest you always prepare for the worst.
