Remote sites, POS; systems where you want to limit the amount of moving parts. I can see NCs with no disk drives, no fans. They may not be there yet, but is on the way.

There are also great savings in standardizing configurations in a network computing architecture. Java does this well and NCs will do this better.

I agree that NCs are not ready for prime time right now. (Is any first generation product?) But I would not rule them out for the future.
