Hi Jane, I have also heard about the story that the Ark of the Covenant was carried off to Ethiopia. Many have tried to hunt it down based on clues in Ethiopia or pick up the trail. I really don't know but it could have been the Ethiopia story was a ruse to throw off all the people searching for it or someone found it centuries ago and took it somewhere else and the trail was lost. It is a intriguing mystery. Concerning the book you mentioned it is a time for powerful deception these days. The assault on the Truth is very strong.
