Hi Ken....I've been away from my computer for about 2 days am just catching up on the SI thread, news, charting, paper reading, etc....For the Near Term????...........Well, I think the mkts. could go either way at this point.....If I were a daytrader I would look to catch a few points up on CPQ over the next day or so.....but as an investor who was looking to take up a position I would want to wait for perhaps a week or longer......The reason is, unless we get an extremely strong rally for several days next week, we are probably looking at just more of the same....The same being a day or two up and a day or three down - basically the ole downtrend line overall.....That's why when I could have gotten into CPQ early on last week I held off waiting for a confirmation with a strong "follow-through" day. On the 3rd day of the attempted rally it failed.....I won't buy until around the 4th day or so of an attempted rally where the Dow and Nasdaq are both up from the day before with around 1.25% higher number (on increasing volume).....When we see that we are in for a sustainable rally that should last awhile.....In the meantime I like my bond fund.....it's been appreciating strongly each day......George

Ken....It's a little early to tell how the Asian financial crisis will affect some stocks, including CPQ.....One thing, in addition to perhaps a bond fund, would be to invest in a company(s) whose earnings weren't dependent on Asian money, like something in the banking, cable TV industry, and there are others....I think we should know a little more how the Asian contagion is going to affect U.S. markets in the next 3-6 months........Worse case scenario, I think, is perhaps this could be the beginning of the traditional Bear Market that historically has lasted an average of 8 months....If Asia significantly affects US corporate profits, and worldwide too, we will have to probably devalue stocks a little more to reflect lower earnings......Then later, we're off and running again as everything gets 'fairly' valued, the Pacific Rim countries get their purses in control and its on to another Bull Market......George
