Just finished reading an interesting report from Merril regarding wireless companies. I was originally doing some research into CELL, but saw QCOM mentioned.

(dated 12/17/97)

They expect this quarter to be on track. Surprisingly, they saw the weakness coming from the Communications segment, while ASIC sales and royalties would be fine, despite a weak Korea (this was specifically mentioned as a non-factor). They anticipate lower gross margins associated with the Communications segment, which includes handsets. I was under the assumption that this segment would show the strongest growth in margins due to issues associated with the quick ramp being resolved.

Anyone want to comment? I wonder about the credibility of this report.
