"The 17.5 years of no global warming" is a lie. On an annual basis, there's been no warming since 2014.
At the time, '05 was the warmest year, with an anomaly of 1.19 degrees. 2014 was 1.33 degrees. We are expected to warm 0.15 degrees/ decade. Things are right on schedule, and this year is shaping up to be even warmer.
