I was reading about that island just after the big tsunami. Fortunately they had no injured or lost cats or people and only had a loss of electricity and interrupted delivery of supplies. The island was right in the tsunami path but escaped major damage (maybe because they are offshore in deeper water and did not experience a large rise in the seawater level or inflows).

Well, they looked healthy....so I'm sure the population will continue to grow unless they spay/neuter -- which would be a good idea.
