Paul, I agree on GOOGL. I bought a nice chunk of this least year during the October correction but sold it to buy something else. The bump last week was really just 2 years of pent up Wall Street underappreciation for a bona fide Buffett stock. Every bit as much as Coke in 87 IMO. But don't expect the next 10 years to emulate the 90s either. Recalling Buffett's adage of "what stock would you buy if you were going to be stranded on a desert island for 10 years," it would probably be GOOGL - IF I could get it at the right price.

It takes considerable gumption to post BABA on the Value thread. My favorite quickie short screen (Cap > 100B, EV/ Rev > 10, exclude financial institutions) turns up 6 stocks:

Of these, 4 have been previously discussed on the thread as possible shorts and 2 have evidence of outright accounting fraud. What "different way" are you using to value BABA? I won't even get started on AMZN - everything that can be said was said 15 years ago.

Good luck everyone. I got kicked out of both the oil patch and GHM 2 weeks ago having bought too early.. and I think that notification means I just bought more TGA. Oil has always been a bloody business and the value holders are starting to weary as capital runs thin. The cyclicals seems to be flagging across the board. Mattyice's puts on IBB are starting to look pretty good after the move on BIIB last week. My list of potential shorts is getting longer.

Graham

I own some BABA via SFTBY. I think this is a value adding holding company that trades at a discount to NAV. similar case than LMCA for example.

Good call on Google. I almost bought some for speculative portfolio part. Coulda shoulda. Not cheap enough for me now. ;)
