The presidential campaign so far has been taking a serious toll on the GOP.

Only 32% of respondents said they had a favorable opinion on the Republican Party in a new Pew Research Center poll published Thursday the lowest number Pew has reported at any point since 1992.

The Pew survey of 2002 adults was conducted July 14-20. It may just be a coincidence, but USA TODAY published a new poll July 14 showing that Donald Trump had surged to the lead in the GOP presidential field.
