I just spent the last 2 weeks slaving over my short thesis on AGN. Some 30 odd pages.

If the situation is that obscure to see or that difficult to come to a decision on, there's something wrong. Jmo.

To me, like trying to pick high-hanging fruit when there's low-hanging available elsewhere. Again jmo; I could be wrong.

I guess if somebody spends that much time/effort making a buy or a short decision then they'd want to make a big bet on it, or else the time spent is just wasted. Seems to me a big bet on a short is risky regardless of the conviction the research provides. Again, just my opinion.

I don't relate shorting to value investing. Of course though, if this type of activity works for you, that's all that matters. And you may yet be proved right on AGN -- the game isn't over yet.
