Hi rr. happy b-day (was it yesterday or today?)
been quite ill (cough, cough) so I haven't posted (good thing people can't get contagious illnesses from internet contact, you're safe.)
I browsed though the Stockmaster list of top mutual funds. I was truly shocked to see how much money the popular ones have lost. FSELX now shows a negative number for 1997 gain. Some of the funds show such huge losses it can only be caused by an extraordinary amount of redemptions. The brokerage stocks dropped a lot, too. The losses would have been much worse except for the propping up of tech stocks on Friday afternoon. It looks like somebody desperately wanted to window-dress the fund annual return numbers.
The S&P chart shows this bizarre periodic pattern, I do not understand it other than noting it peaks at dividend reinvest and drops at money-market reinvest, if you fly by the pattern it would suggest that we finish this selloff and then have a strong bull run up to the 5th.
