You are right. Sanctions slowed them down but very little. By the same token this deal will not keep them from it.
What do you think will keep Iran from building a nuclear weapon? Or do you feel that a nuclear armed Iran is no big deal?

U.S. sanctions won't prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons.
They sure won't, but they do hinder the efforts.

Obama is basically giving them free reign, hoping that if we're nice to them, they'll be nice to us.

They'll make sure to repay the favor once they actually get the bomb.
