I've gone around this one before..

I happen to agree that there should be a single rate of income tax

..but you need to totally toss out the nonsense system now in use and start from scratch

...as long as all income is included in the calculation

..and all income is exactly that...interest, dividends, capital gains, inheritance, corporate...all income, money you get for anything, is treated equally

..bet the rate could be single digit, if everyones cash was included and saw the same treatment

..and if some are unable to survive, there would be sufficient revenue to take care of them

...and this only works if there are absolutely no exceptions, cause the f-ing politicians will start selling them for votes if any loopholes can be devised

..and it will be more strongly resisted by the 1% than anybody, cause this is how they got there
