"The machine has spun the word "socialism" into a complete term of misinformation and emotion"

This is where their efforts bites them in the butt. Obama has been called a socialist for so long that we're OK with the term. It only scares people who watch Faux and listen to Limbaugh.

The military that conservatives LOVE is a socialist organization from top to bottom, cradle to the grave.

"an attempt to capture the government and regulation for profit and power - truly against America's enlightened interest, dynamism, and health."

Hillary? Al Gore?

Look, everyone here knows WhartRat is goofy and never supports his arguments. That doesn't mean it is okay for you. If you show up here, it is reasonable for people to give you an opportunity to make rational discussions. If you don't, you can't be banned as on the liberal threads, but you can easily be ignored.

>> The US is a mixture of socialism and free markets -- they can't deal with reality though they enjoy the benefits daily in total blindness or ignorance.

The US is a "mixture" only to the extent government has interfered with free markets -- in essentially every instance, with a demonstrably negative effect on the public.

You are, I suspect, confusing socialism with government services and they are two entire different things. In relatively unusual instances does government in the US own the means of production.

Government has frequently usurped more for itself, as government does. Not unlike the famous movie character, "The Blob", which subsumes everything it touches, our government does the same.

It is unlikely the United States can be saved from liberalism at this point. I agree with Thomas Sowell that the likelihood of pulling the US back from disaster is now under 5% and would just be a freak occurrence if it happened.
