No, actually the NRA and other firearms lobbies worked effectively, in the Bush Administration after 911, to freeze Homeland Security when it came to screening gun registration data in investigations. Perhaps a principled stand, or just business development for the industry through a bottoms-up arms race - you be the judge, But apparently they were okay with domestic warrantless wiretaps and National Security letters that the citizen didn't even have a right to speak with an attorney. Just sayin'.
