Thanks Z for the kind remarks. But I am continuallly amazed at the overall quality of posts I see here. You and several others do some very impressive homework. Frankly, I think I will learn a great deal montitoring these threads.

<Wondering whether you saw this carnage coming>
I wish I could tell you that I saw it coming. I've never shorted a stock in my life but may have been tempted. I was dancing around the bonfire while on the other side cold water was being thrown on it. I did feel that Seagate's problems at the high end were deeper then others saw it. But I was totally blind sighted by the extent of competiveness into the lower end. But all of this is easy to say now. Lets see what happens next year. Right now I see a recovery scenario that favors Seagate and Quantum. At the component level I am afraid the scenario seems to favor mostly Japanese suppliers. I do like HMTT however. But much of the small change I reserve for this sector will be in third tier companies like IVAC, and ZIGO. I have also been looking at Veeco (VECO) lately and find it attractive.
Best,
Stitch
