The very nature of consumption leaves you with less of something than you had before you consumed it, thereby ridding you of as much as you produced. Yes, it is solely investment and innovation that causes growth. Without those things no economy can grow. It can, at best hold its own. Which is pretty much what we've been doing for the last 7 years.

You make too much sense. They here cannot escape the personal and social gravity of confirmation bias. That's why its like dealing with a cult. This is enabled by powerful amoral elites of privilege and entitlement-- actually weak little men and a few empowered women -- defended by b-roll faux journalism and partisan "non-profit" think tanks; plus bought politicians, lobbyists and lawyers with their bi weekly manicures and hair styling, in designer suits and shoes. We, you and I, live in a much more exposed, vulnerable mind universe. We are curious; we are critical thinkers. That is threatening to all 11th century dogmatists who see themselves as promoting immutable Truths and natural order. In a sense, natural enemies, dynamic vs. fixed.
