I don't think that chart is accurate but I DO think it shows that Reagan was the FATHER of DEFICITS.

Reagan came in during times of EXTREME inflation and that's the BEST time for any politician to come in.

All he had to do was raise interest rates to economy killing levels and then let them drop gradually.

Carter was going to do the SAME thing if he was reelected and that's why he put Volcker in charge of the FED.

Carter wouldn't have overdone it though the way Reagan did. Carter had run a small business and he actually cared about people so he wouldn't have wanted to destroy people.

Reagan had never had a real job so he couldn't really relate to poor people.
