Read Replies (2) | Respond to of 1578068 Americans Prefer Planned Parenthood To Republicans August 10, 2015 by Robby Berman No Comments In the first Republican presidential debate, much righteous indignation got spewed about Planned Parenthood selling baby parts, a lie dramatized in a pack of now thoroughly discredited videos. It’s apparently a charge that’s just too juicy to let go of, since it supports the Republican party’s anti-reproductive rights agenda so colorfully. Given all of the effort the GOP is putting into hating on and shutting down Planned Parenthood, you might assume they’re responding to some great groundswell of opposition to Planned Parenthood among the American public. But it turns out that’s not true at all. A newly released NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows that more Americans approve of Planned Parenthood than any of 2016 the Republican presidential candidates, or the party itself. The poll measures net favorability – meaning what you get when you add someone’s favorable and unfavorable numbers together. Net-Favorability The candidate who comes closest to Planned Parenthood is Ohio’s Governor John Kasich. Y’know the guy Fox viewers like the least of all of the people who qualified for their prime-time debate. Coincidence? Maybe it’s just a very clear —and heartening — indicator of how far out of the mainstream Fox’s audience is? (The Republican party should take note of this disconnect, and quick.) Even so, Kasich has a net favorability of 5%, ten points behind Planned Parenthood’s 15%. The GOP comes in overall at -16% with unsurprising lowest marks going to Donald Trump at -30%. Just like with Kasich, this is the polar opposite of Fox viewers’ opinion. They liked Trump best. So there.
