Innovation creates new industry and modern jobs. As new and better production is developed economy is grown and the new jobs replace old. We don't have as many 'smith' trades per capita as we used to. At the dawn of the industrial age we were 97% agrarian and 3% industrial. That statistic reversed, and now we must continue to innovate as less people are needed in manufacturing and more are needed in high tech. Rail Roads were king then came the trucking industry. The Petroleum age is beginning to make way for alternatives etc etc

When you stifle entrepreneurship, innovation, and development so you can provide unproductive jobs in the government, or you interfere with free market competition by having government employees perform work that should be competitive, you destroy economic growth and in time cause collapse of resources needed to pay for even the essential government tasks.

>>. Amazon business model is to kill jobs with automation and raw power. They had an instant and unfair sales tax advantage over local bricks-and-mortar small businesses, especially bookstores.

This is stupid. Every company wants to kill jobs with automation. Amazon certainly had no "raw power" to begin with. It earned every bit of power it now has. I bought Amazon shares for the first time at $8.00. There was not a lot of power there.

Today the company is competing seriously with the biggest companies in the world. Jeff Bezos has received no inequitable benefit. He created Amazon with absolute skill and innovation.

INNOVATION. And they are creating jobs all around the country.
