Metacomet,
Why is Isis a US problem?
It doesn't have to be. All Obama has to do is say so. "ISIS is not OUR problem," then GTFO. Let the local powers deal with it.

But there are risks with doing nothing:

1) The constant bombardment of stories and images of ISIS' barbarism is extremely hard to ignore, especially for our Nobel Peace Prize Winner-In-Chief.

2) ISIS is a severe destabilization force in the Middle East, and that can spread outward into a global threat that the world cannot ignore.

3) Imagine one day if ISIS decided to strike America for whatever dumb reason they could think of. It wouldn't make sense for their survival, but we can't assume that these guys think logically.

I understand Obama's reluctance to eliminate the ISIS crisis once and for all. If he could pull a rabbit out of his hat, he would somehow create conditions that would cause ISIS to collapse upon itself and self-destruct. But it's not apparent that Obama is that clever in his foreign policy.

Meanwhile the WSJ just reported that ISIS is using chemical weapons. That's just great, now Syria and other enemies of ISIS (who aren't exactly our friends, either) will have an excuse to respond with WMD.

And that's not something we can easily ignore.
