Do you believe that the current average American's standard of living is too high? No. But it is highly skewed. We must reduce the wealth gap, and expand the higher standard-of-living to more Americans. No working American should have to go to a food bank, no child who merits it, should have to choose full-time work, or go into massive debt for an education that will ultimately advance the economy many fold over a privileged student who parties their way through the system on Daddy's gold with no intention to be great. We must move toward long term health and sustainability over the wasteful and destructive memes of conspicuous material wealth. Veblen nailed it in the Theory of the Leisure Class. We are in this together, or we will implode.
