John,

This is great. One of the problems I've had in relating to this situation is trying to equate it to Vegas style Poker, which obviously it is not. Consider the following:

1. How do they enforce the $125 max. payout/person and $50 max. loss/person. Do you actually put money in the machines or do you buy credits?
2. What is the max.$ bet/hand?
3. What Co. manufactured the machines i.e. Ballys, IGT, Casino Data etc.?
4. What are the payouts/hand i.e. Jacks or better, two pair, three/kind etc.?
5. Any evidence of "under the table" payouts or alcohol being served?
6. Are there any other restrictions as per machine instructions or general differences compared to your own Vegas experiences?

I can not think of an uncontrolled experiment that you could do but I will give you some advice which I'm sure you are already aware of "know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away and know when to RUN" (ggg)

Gary

John-I would suggest you play the Blackjack machines. Find a quiet location where you have a machine to yourself and are not a part of a five Blackjack machine set-up where the dealer is handling all five machines together. Play the basic Blackjack strategy. It has been a while since I played in S.C. but as I recall there is no surrender rule and I dont believe you can resplit a third card after you have announced you intention to double down. You can keep track of the cards played even if you want to write them down since you control the speed of the game, again assuming you are playing solo. You can raise your bet when the deck is rich and retreat to the minimum when it is in the houses favor. You can hear the shuffle when the deck is being reshuffled. This is the biggest problem however, since I recall that the amount of total cards played out of what I believe was a two deck game did not allow you much of an end game where your counting skills would give you the best advantage. I still believe you will do better using your counting skills and come away with the feeling that this is not just a game of chance and that skill does count. Taking it out of the pure slot machine "lottery" context.

I will be waiting to hear your impressions.
