I knew that number because I went to Weight Watchers in 1978 ....I put it all back on in 4 years and read a study of weight reducing plans and their recidivism rate....WW was best but as I said most regain in 4 years or less........for those with a weight problem it's a lifetime battle............Your link disputes this but says:

. About half the people who maintained a substantial weight loss for more than a year had done it on their own,

A year is by no means permanent loss....if they are really doing better these days, why do we have 30% obesity in this country????? Billions of dollars are being spent on weight loss programs and pills and other gimmicks.......most of them scams...........

The authors in their final conclusion relied on dieters own claims.....
