Hong Kong up 0.85, but Japan down 3.8% at Monday PM session. Hopefully Friday's strong US market momentum at the close will carry us through a year-end rally. Tulvio

I've been talking to an acquaintance who is a professional investor, knows a lot of fund managers and is, in general, knowledgeable about the Street perception of various technical stocks. When I'd asked him about Cymer, he'd answered that he doesn't follow the stock closely, but that he'd heard that Cymer has some kind of problems with their products. He did not claim any first-hand knowledge, just what he'd heard from his peers, he is not short - he just doesn't want to get involved.

I am not bringing this up to start a rumour, but this conversation did bother me - there apparently exists a wide-spread perception of something being wrong with Cymer lasers or DUV tools, and Cymer PR does nothing to combat it. If a DUV tool with their laser is working in the non-pilot environment, say at Samsung, they should prepare a PR release showing Cymer laser being used to produce state-of-the art chips. It may not help much, but it can't hurt either. Without positive publicity, individual investors and fund managers looking for bargains in techs will continue to ignore this stock.
