Obviously, it was loaded with pork. If the Dems wanted to help veterans - a premise admittedly based in fantasy - it would have gone along with the republican suggestion to introduce smaller individual bills without the pork.

Well, I guess I was wrong about that. I don't even remember that vote being mentioned by anybody in the last election. At least not locally.. I guess Republicans don't get votes for spending if it benefits Americans but they get a LOT of votes if they vote to spend money that benefits Afghans and Iraqis.... Because they spent a HECK of a LOT of money helping those people. We can't get any infrastructure built in the U.S. but we've built BILLIONS of dollars of it in Iraq and Afghanistan.
