Thanks for posting this Morgan Stanley link. Just explored the site a little, and found this dialogue/debate between two of the leading establishment gurus, Stephen Roach and Ed Hyman:

It is from Jun 25 1997, in other words about a week or so before the Thai baht devaluation. They are discussing the state of economics in the US and the world, making their sagacious<g> predictions for the coming 6 months (in other words, the last six months). Neither of them mentioned any possible currency crisis in SE Asia, though they did discuss Japan a bit. They were both talking about the inevitability of inflation (Roach much worse than Hyman), neither of them suggested even the possibility of deflation.

Beware these over paid experts.
