You are absolutely correct that the miners performance has been abysmal. They were poorly managed, but it's also a very difficult business. Average grade has been cut in half in approx 12+ years with no real change in technology and nothing likely on the horizon. At 1000 gold most of these plays are still overvalued. What mutual fund or hedge fund wants to own this crap given how it's behaved and how we can't even sustain the recent rally? That said a good bit of weakness of late is related to oil/copper/materials in general getting crushed. Hard asset ETFs almost always include gold so there is residual selling. Some of this is being overbought ST and some of it is profit taking and shorting given the "all clear" today - or so they thought. If gold does go back to 1,200+ we're talking 50% moves in many of these names. So on a risk/reward basis, seasonality, the fact that global markets are in turmoil, China has devalued and more devaluation are likely - at least ST I still think the risk/reward ratio is good in many names. I can see your perspective, but I can also see Swampdogs.

OT - I've been dealing w/really bad tendonitis and rheumatoid arthritis the past few years throughout my body. Have been eating clear for quite a while with some improvement, but recently did a coconut oil fast for leaking gut and results are nothing short of amazing FYI. I did other fasts prior (2 water fasts and one juice). Added priobiotics and did other things as well prior so I think I set the stage for these results. Anyone w/join issues should google search leaky gut and coconut oil fast. I eased into it and am now adding to my diet on a regular basis as well.
