$10.00? That seems a bit low too me. Still, that would be a >42% increase from todays price. And if it achieved that price in the next couple of months it would be an extremely good short term return. Most all tech stocks are well off thier highs, and Multi-Media, consumer electronic companies in particular. The Asian crisis is a big factor, although some companies have greater exposure than others, its a classic case of throwing the "baby out with the bath water". OAKT will be impacted, imo, regardless of what IR has said. This company has never been forthright with its shareholders which is one reason why we probably should not own the stock. Too late we do. Companies such as Mitsumi (OAKT's largest customer) could be greatly affected since thier buying power has diminished - that means that OAKT's order rate may slow while the ASP is decreasing imo. There is recessionary pressure on some of these countries and reduced "buying power" due to currency devaluation. How can this not hurt OAKT? The question remains how badly? We should get a good indication with the current Q's earnings release, Conf. Call and 10Q. This is the reason imo for the eps downgrade. I continue to hold. The company, at the very least, represents an asset play since thier "technology" value seems to be mostly discounted. This should not remain so (undervalued).
They still have a "core business", albeit commodity based. DVD controllers will provide replacement revenue for eventual decreasing CD-ROM rev.

WARP5 should produce meaningful rev/earnings in '98 (hopefully) and there is always a reasonable chance that they can score an MPEG2 win :)
Good Luck with your OAKT decision. And Merry Xmas & Happy Hanakuh to all.
