The problem with this deal is that it may put the 'powers that be' in jeopardy and the people that will suffer if it results in a crackdown will be people like those in that video.

The ayatollahs don't like the deal but trust, they have given their approval to do the deal.....or the deal wouldn't be happening. Their public rantings about the deal serves several purposes.......including letting the Iranian people know that the US is still the evil empire and there will be no fraternizing with the devil.

The ayatollahs are making the deal because of the demographic you pointed out........25% of the Iranian population is under 14.........and because the Iranian economy has been stagnant for years due to the sanctions. That means the economy can't produce the jobs those youngsters will need when they come of age. In fact, there are not enough jobs even for the current crop of young adults......its the unemployment rate that helped fuel the uprising two years ago. The ayatollahs have no recourse but to get out from underneath those sanctions..........their control of the country is not as secure as they would like.

Of course the lifting of the sanctions will open Iran up more to the rest of the world.........and it can't help but lead to more liberalization which will be facilitated by its young population.

The military in Iran likes things the way they are and they aren't going to give up power easily.

The religious conservatives that run things along with the military aren't going to along easily either.

As I understand the real power is the ayatollahs. They control the country.......not the military.

Like I pointed out up above, the ayatollahs need this deal. If they didn't, it wouldn't be happening.
